Istanbul Modern Cinema’s opening program takes its name from director Burak Çevik’s new film Forms of Forgetting, making its world premiere at the 73rd Berlinale Film Festival and detailing the remembrance process of a couple coming together after a 14-year separation. Istanbul Modern will host the film’s Turkish premiere following its international run, after which the film will be stored in the museum for 14 years. In this way, much like its subject matter, the film will become an experience of how memory stratifies and can be rewritten again and again. Based on this film, Istanbul Modern Cinema's first program brings together personal and social stories in which remembering is no less than forgetting.
