Istanbul Modern Cinema brings a selection of 10 films from the Locarno Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals in the world, to Istanbul for the first time. Switzerland's most prestigious film event, which has a unique reputation with its film selection, style and events that emphasize innovation in cinema in the face of pressure from the industry, has turned 76 this year. Among the films in the program, all of which will be having their Turkish premieres, are Critical Zone by Iranian director Ali Ahmadzadeh, which won this year's Golden Leopard, despite being banned from leaving its home country, Stepne by Ukrainian director Maryna Vroda, winner of the Best Direction Award. Dragan Bjelogrlić, director of Guardians of the Formula, which deals with the historical intersection of medicine and nuclear sciences in 1950s Belgrade, and one of the famous actors of Serbian cinema, will be the guest of the program.
