Istanbul Modern Cinema is launching a new series of programs in which two trilogies will be shown each month until December. The three films in the trilogies –labeled as such either by film critics or by the directors themselves– are related through a common character, theme, or setting. These films may be the segments of a larger story or may be independent stories that form an overarching structure only when they come together.
This month’s duo of trilogies is centered on geography as visual and narrative space. The first is the “Koker” trilogy by Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, which was filmed between 1987-1994, and takes its name from the village where it is set. The second trilogy is Patricio Guzmán’s “Chile” trilogy, in which he looks at the country’s troubled past full of coups and massacres.
Each film will be available for viewing between the dates and times indicated in the program. During that period you can register to view the film.
