TOMATO, PEPPER, DEPRESSION

TOMATO, PEPPER, DEPRESSION

Türkiye | DCP, Color & Black-White, 68’ | Turkish
Director: Aybüke Avcı

The documentary, which deals with reflections on depression in village life by employing a comedic and sincere language, takes place in the village of Çetirvelli in the southern province of Adana. Given that half of the village suffers from diagnosed depression, the director sheds light on the romanticized difficulties of village life. Featuring images of villagers making tomato and pepper paste and red peppers abounding from the fields, Tomato Pepper Depression invites us to rethink the distances between the village and the city vis a vis the anxiety of the future.
