What happens when one of Europe’s foremost living psychiatrists comes together with a book thief? Benjamin Heisenberg's new film "Superegos" is looking for the answer. Psychiatrist Curt Ledig, no longer able to conduct therapy due to his old age and confined to only writing articles, is preparing to attend a conference. When his path unexpectedly crosses with Nick, who makes a living stealing antique books, Ledig finds himself among petty criminals. While trying to remember his own past and his relationship with the Third Reich, he also attempts to resolve Nick’s childhood traumas with unconventional methods. "Superegos", which premiered in the Panorama section of this year’s Berlinale, is an entertaining comedy that looks both at Germany’s past and the individual histories of its people.
