Türkiye, Greece | DCP, Color, 109’ | Turkish
Cast: Rıza Akın, Nurcan Eren, Hayati Pirselimoğlu
Rıza is a truck driver on the Adana-Istanbul route. His truck breaks down near Istanbul, and he cannot get it repaired. Having lost his livelihood, he is stranded in Istanbul, in the vicinity of a cheap and gloomy hotel in Küçükpazar. He wanders around with no job, no future, no hope. As he searches for a means to pay for the repairs, he comes to the verge of committing a brutal crime. Centering on the poverty on the outskirts of Istanbul, the film, featuring a simple narrative and realistic acting by Rıza Akın and Nurcan Eren, is the first part of the director’s trilogy on “Conscience and Death.”
In the eighth edition of its "Rendezvous with Directors" program, Istanbul Modern Cinema continues to host directors who stand out with their artistic identities and unique approaches in Türkiye’s contemporary cinema culture.
