Türkiye, Greece, France | DCP, Color, 100’ | Turkish
Cast: Erdem Şenocak, Jale Arıkan, Rıza Akın
Returning home after a long time for his father's funeral, Can witnesses an unexpected murder. After the incident, he cannot leave the town and finds himself pulled into a strange and uncanny vortex. He is terrified as he confronts the unidentified crime he has been accused of. Moreover, a curfew has been declared across the country. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Pirselimoğlu, the film turns into a dark and absurd thriller with its Kafkaesque narrative. Art director Natali Yeres, with whom Pirselimoğlu has collaborated throughout his career, creates a purgatorial and timeless town, once again presenting an allegory of Türkiye. Kerr was Türkiye’s submission for the “Best International Film” award at the 95th Academy Awards.
In the eighth edition of its "Rendezvous with Directors" program, Istanbul Modern Cinema continues to host directors who stand out with their artistic identities and unique approaches in Türkiye’s contemporary cinema culture.
