Istanbul Modern Cinema, with the contributions of Türk Tuborg A.Ş and in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Istanbul, presents five films by one of the most prolific and influential directors of cinema, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who has directed 45 films in 16 years. Including the director’s first feature-length in 1969, the selection features The Marriage of Maria Braun (Die Ehe der Maria Braun, 1978), Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (Angst essen Seele auf, 1974) and Effi Briest (Fontane Effi Briest, 1974), to be screened online and free of charge. Also included in the selection is Oskar Roehler’s film Enfant Terrible (2020), a portrayal of Fassbinder’s life.
