WE NO LONGER PREFER MOUNTAINS, 2023
Palestine, Netherlands, UK | DCP, Color, 96’ | Arabic
Director: Inas Halabi
Set in a Druze town in Northern Palestine, the documentary invites the viewer into the desolation and hazy, mystical world of this geography. This is a town that was largely expropriated by Israel in 1948. Through interviews with its inhabitants, as well as radio broadcasts and rap music, the director offers an interesting perspective on a region that has existed amidst contradictions for a long time. Giving space to the elderly population to voice the injustice they have suffered, the film also turns to the younger generation who are challenging the conditions they have inherited.
