Eflatun is a miniaturist living in 17th century Istanbul. An Ottoman vizier announces that Danyal, an Ottoman prince who has started an insurrection in Anatolia, has been captured and is to be executed. Eflatun is ordered to paint a western-style portrait of the rebel prince and sets out on an arduous journey from the capital to Anatolia with a select group of palace guards. En route, they pick up a girl called Leyla, and together, they find themselves in a grand adventure full of emotions.
