THINGS TO COME (L'AVENIR), 2016 Mia Hansen-Løve brings to the screen a story inspired by her mother’s life. Nathalie, portrayed by the masterful actress Isabelle Huppert, is a philosophy teacher at a high school. A series of seemingly unfortunate events, such as her mother’s illness, obstacles in her career, and problems with her marriage, pave the way for this middle-aged woman to find her liberation. Winner of the 2016 Berlin Film Festival's Silver Bear for Best Director, the film also contains references to well-known philosophers. |
