Vietnamese-French director Tràn Anh Hùn's The Taste of Things, which brought him the Award for “Best Director” at Cannes this year, is a feast for gastronomy lovers. The unlikely love between a talented chef played by Juliette Binoche and a gourmet played by Benoît Magimel, fueled by their passion for food, sets the scene for a story that touches on class relations and gender roles. The film proves at length that there is no difference between cooking for someone and loving them, as we witness the process of preparing delicious food with all five senses. We do not recommend watching this film on an empty stomach.
