One of the most expensive productions of the new Polish cinema, Legiony takes place during Poland's struggle for freedom against Tsarist Russia. While set against a backdrop of the political world of soldiers, the real story of Legiony is the love triangle between Józek, a deserter from the Tsarist army who joins the emerging Legions, the intelligence agent Ola and her fiancée. With a screenplay based on the memories of real legionnaires, one of the most magnificent scenes in this historical epic film is dedicated to the Battle of Rokitna.
