In Jean-Luc Godard's story of the revolution in 1960s Paris, Veronique, a student of philosophy who leads a small Marxist group, lives in an apartment with her friends. The members of the group are obsessed with the idea of overthrowing the tsarist regime through revolutionary violence, but they fail to grasp the true meaning of their ideology. One day, Veronique suggests killing a famous person. La Chinoise, in which the director employs his unique deconstructive montage technique, also stands out with scenes filmed at Nanterre University, the starting point of the May 68 student movement.
