Spain, USA | DCP, Color, 112’ | Spanish
Director: Pedro Almodóvar
Cast: Rosario Flores, Javier Cámara, Darío Grandinetti
The film begins with the opening of a red curtain, and the two main characters, Benigno and Marco, meet by chance in a film theater. Later, again by coincidence, they meet in a hospital. Benigno is a paramedic working in the hospital, and his girlfriend Lydia is in a coma. Marco, on the other hand, is in the hospital to care for his girlfriend who has been seriously injured. Going through the same dramatic process, Marco and Benigno form a deep friendship. Red plays an important role in the emotional palette of Almodovar's Oscar-winning film on obsession, loneliness, and friendship.
