The Leningrad Cowboys perform their version of the known song in Paris. A solitary manleading a donkey is turned away at a restaurant door, he and the beast walk down to "La Maison du Vin" where, despite a "no donkeys" sign, they enter and the man proceeds to feed the donkey. His care and feeding of the animal impresses the women singing with the band – she and the visitor connect, but who will watch the donkey if they slip away?

Dogs Have No Hell

Dogs Have No Hell, a 10-minute film filled with humor, tells the story of a man who gets out after a night in jail. He has ten minutes until the train leaves for Siberian Oil Fields. In that ten minutes, he finds the girl he loves, proposes to her, buys wedding rings and manages to get them both on the train. As they sit on the train, the man looks out into the darkening landscape and wonders if Fatherland is still there. The train disappears into the night.
The Foundry / Valimo

The Foundry is part of an episodic film celebrating the Cannes film festival, To Each His Own Cinema. 35 of the world’s best directors were invited to shoot a short story for the film. The anniversary film’s theme was cinema. In his episode, Kaurismäki pictured foundry workers who work day and night shifts in Karkkila, Finland. On their lunch break, the men go to watch a movie at the local cinema. They see the brothers Lumière film, "Workers Leaving The Lumière Factory in Lyon", from 1895.
Bico

Shot in Portugal, this lyrical documentary is a story of a small mountain village that lives in its own time amidst changes that shape history. The film tells of the past of the village, of the structural changes it has faced, and of men who have to leave the village for long periods of time because of their stonecutting work. When the men are gone, the women rule this village surrounded by snowy mountains, and sheep and cattle wander on once green fields while dogs protect them from the wolves.
