The British director of the award-winning Cashback, Sean Ellis wrote, produced, shot and directed his latest film Metro Manila, apolice drama that manages to be both realistic and poetic. Living in the rice paddie covered northern Philippines, Oscar Ramirez and his family wake up to famine and poverty every morning. To buck the trend and to provide his family with a better future, the young man sets off for the greater Manila area, Metro Manila. There, Oscar faces various dangers brought about by his new life and job. The film was awarded the Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
