Gabriel is a 30-year-old war correspondent working in the Middle East. He was held captive while on an assignment in Syria and was later released, but he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. Following his psychiatrist’s recommendation, he travels to Goa, where he spent his childhood, to see his mother. He meets Maya there, the university-aged daughter of his godfather, and they begin a romantic relationship. A bittersweet story of love and rehabilitation, Maya is like a magical tale set against the backdrop of Indian romanticism with its charming characters.
