Forced to get engaged by her father, Hicran runs away from home, leaving her family and Rıza behind. Unable to cope with the feeling abandonment, Rıza heads to Istanbul to find Hicran, spending months in the city to face his fiancée. Thematically related to the films Innocence and Destiny, Life retains the style of Zeki Demirkubuz with reflections on tube television screens, cuts to black between scenes and parallel dream sequences, while introducing different cinematic elements to its narrative. Concerning himself with the inner world of characters who calmly accept pain instead of clinging to an arabesque obsession, the director defines life as “a feeling that keeps even the most assertive, toughest, most combative person in line".
