Can returns to his old home after a long time to attend his father’s funeral, only to witness an unexpected murder. Not allowed to leave the town after the incident, he finds himself caught in an unusual and eerie swirl of events. As he confronts the mysterious crime he is now accused of, he becomes increasingly terrified. A country-wide curfew is declared on top of everything. An adaptation of Pirselimoğlu’s novel, the movie is a gloomy and absurd mystery thriller with a Kafkaesque narrative. The art direction by Natali Yeres creates a time-independent, in-limbo town that serves as an allegory for Türkiye.
Inspired by the women artists in the exhibition "Always Here", Istanbul Modern Cinema continues its "Mind the Gap" project, which aims to raise awareness about gender inequality in the film industry. The focus of the new event will be on production design and art direction, in which the lack of women is felt severely in the film industry.
