Director Leander Haußmann, known for his film “Sonnenallee,” and popular German comedian Michael “Bully” Herbig came together and filmed one of Germany’s most talked-about movies last year. Taking place during the Third Reich, the film is about the adventures of two actor friends, one a member of the Communist Party, the other apolitical, who earn acclaim withtheir comic impersonations of Hitler and Stalin on stage. The film takes its titles from the famous hotel in Moscow where communists from the four corners of the Earth took shelter… “Hotel Lux” was nominated this year for the German Film Academy’s Lola awards for “Best Costume Design,” “Best Make-Up,” and “Best Production Design.”
