HAITI. UNTITLED (HAITI. UDEN TITEL), 1996
Denmark | 35mm, Color, 78’ | Danish, English
Director: Jørgen Leth
The director tries to understand this chaotic Caribbean nation whose history is written in blood, where reality has turned to the surreal and which even resembles constructivism. He gives, with square frames of desire and beauty, what he experienced over five years in these lands in which politics is conducted by sorcerers and death and destruction have become a daily custom. Sometimes tropical rain, sometimes the erotic shot of a black woman’s body contribute drama and a visual celebration in this epic and personal documentary.
