Directors: Radu Jude, Christian Ferencz-Flatz
As in last year's masterpiece Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, director Radu Jude explores the relationship between image and reality in this montage of commercials. In collaboration with philosopher Christian Ferencz-Flatz, this eight-part compilation of television commercials broadcasted from 1989 to the present day, provides a historical context for Romania's transition from socialism to capitalism, consumer culture, and changing perceptions. At the same time, Eight Postcards from Utopia shows the changing styles and styles of television advertising and offers a pleasant viewing experience with its sarcastic and thought-provoking tone.
