In the fourth film by the Italian master of horror, a musician partners with a journalist to find the culprit after witnessing the murder of a well-known psychic. The two are targeted by a mysterious killer trying to protect a dark secret. Maintaining the classic amateur detective story structure and adding comedic elements, the film foreshadows Argento's shift to supernatural themes. Red gradually fills the screen, as lust and violence intensify. In addition to its stylized and striking visuals, Deep Red features Argento's first musical collaboration with the legendary prog-rock band Goblin.
