DANISH DYNAMITE(...OG DET VAR DANMARK), 2008
Denmark | 35mm, Color, 107’ | Danish, English
Directors: Mads Kamp Thulstrup, Carsten Søsted
The documentary skims over the story of the amateurishness and lack of success of the Danish National Football Team in the ‘70s to achieve its great success and become a hero in the ‘90s. Centered on the three important technical directors of that period, the film relates the story from the eyes of important players of the time. The film begins with Nikkelaj Nielsen’s leaving the team in 1979, continues with the young technical director Sepp Piontek who followed him and ends with Richard Moller Nielsen who carried the team to the European Championship in 1992. It is the story of an evolution and a victory that bears witness to a period in Denmark.
