Bailey, 12, lives in a run-down house with her dysfunctional father, Bug, and older brother, Hunter. With Bug's erratic income and her mother struggling to support three children, life is difficult. When Bug announces he's getting married and bringing his new wife home, Bailey rebels, refusing to be a bridesmaid, and runs away. After waking up in a field, she meets the eccentric Bird. Set against a working-class backdrop, the film offers an aesthetic portrayal of poverty and harsh living conditions. Bailey and Bird's friendship blossoms in a world of magical realism, growing stronger as they support each other. Bird balances tragedy and comedy, maintaining its youthful and chaotic energy throughout.
