ALL IS FORGIVEN (TOUT EST PARDONNÉ), 2007
France | DCP, Color, 105' | French, German
Cast: Marie-Christine Friedrich, Paul Blain, Constance Rousseau
Beginning in Vienna and ending in Paris, the movie revolves around the writer and secret heroin addict Victor, his wife, and their young daughter Pamela. Despite his deep attachment, Victor’s addiction leads to the destruction of his family. The story then jumps 11 years ahead to focus on Pamela, now in her adolescence, trying to reconnect with her father. In her debut, Hansen-Løve showcases her sense of time in cinema, her ability to create atmospheres, and her subtle style. Avoiding cliché narratives, she captures an emotional burden that becomes devastating as it escalates.
Istanbul Modern Cinema hosts the rising auteur of contemporary European cinema, Mia Hansen-Løve.
