Thinking Through Making: Natural Dyeing From Home

“Crafting Technology for Textiles”- a collaborative project between Istanbul Modern and the Royal College of Art (RCA), London

In this online workshop, Hannah Elisabeth Jones (MA, RCA) invites participants to learn how to naturally dye materials at home. The workshop participants will explore the history of natural dyes as well as the dyestuffs that people can use today, such as food waste and foraged plants. The participants will spend the rest of the day learning different dyeing techniques, including bundle dyeing, hapazome and shibori.

Hannah Elisabeth Jones - Designer and Maker

Hannah Elisabeth Jones is a designer-maker and PhD researcher, who specialises in bio-based materials and natural dyes. Hannah has an innovative approach to textiles, blending an interest in natural materials with an ethical commitment to developing an ecologically sensitive practice and a strong visual aesthetic.
