Children take part in programs which are designed for specific age groups and focus on exhibitions held at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, works of art featured in the exhibitions, and the careers of artists whose works are exhibited. Participants thus gain experience in different fields of art ranging from painting, sculpture, and video to performance, design, and architecture.
Organized for 7-14 year-olds.
The programs are limited to 15 children.
Workshops last 60 minutes.

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on Adnan Çoker’s artistic career and the technique of abstraction The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and his productions. They examine the artist’s work “Retrospective II” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow his example. Based on architectural elements, they make geometric shapes and complete their compositions by coloring a two-dimensional plane on which they create the perception of depth. Having explored Adnan Çoker’s artistic point of view, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on Aliye Berger’s artistic career and printmaking techniques.The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and her productions. They examine the artist’s works featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow her example. In the workshop, they try out printmaking techniques on linoleum, wood, and metal using ready-made matrices and create pictures using their own matrices which they make from EVA. Having explored Aliye Berger’s artistic point of view, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on F.Tülin’s artworks and on forms inspired by nature. The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and her productions. They examine the artist’s works “Past/Future” and “The Mystery of Alice” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow her example. They make drawings, magnify the images of small forms, emphasize details through gestures, and reinterpret the concept of “still life”. Having explored F.Tülin’s view of nature, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.

Led by museum educators, the workshop focuses on Selma Gürbüz’s artistic career and the concept of “self-portrait”. The children begin the program with a brief presentation introducing the artist and her productions. They examine the artist’s works “Self-Portrait”, “Faded Costume”, and “Hand Globe” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition and follow her example. They design figures inspired by nature and alter forms based on the silhouettes of different plants and animals. Having explored Selma Gürbüz’s artistic point of view, the children take their artworks with them when leaving the workshop.

For children between 11-14 ages.
The program focuses on the analysis and interpretation of artworks. Beginning the workshop with drama activities, children design short stories about selected objects inspired by five works of art. After examining works of art in the museum's collection exhibition, they write, illustrate and share their stories with each other in the workshop.

The program aims to introduce contemporary artist Fahrelnissa Zeid to children and enable them to interpret her art. Children discover the artist's sources of inspiration by playing games with images that let them learn about Zeid's imaginary world. Just like an artist, they describe their emotions, acquire new perspectives, and enhance their creativity.

Inspired by the exhibition “Olafur Eliasson: Your unexpected encounter,” this program invites children to work with natural materials. After exploring some of the artist’s works in the exhibition that highlight themes of nature and the environment, children engage in a hands-on workshop. They use visual and texture cards to develop their visual perception and strengthen their memory.
First, they create compositions on visual cards using natural materials such as leaves, cinnamon sticks, and pinecones. Then, they replicate patterns on texture cards. The program concludes with an exploration of the compositions drawn from natural materials.

Inspired by the exhibition “Olafur Eliasson: Your Unexpected Encounter,” this program invites children to rediscover light and color. The activity begins with an exploration of the artist’s installations in the exhibition and continues in the workshop.
In the workshop, children use recycled cardboard rolls, colorful acetate sheets, and reflective paper to create their own kaleidoscopes. These playful tools allow them to observe how colorful small objects change under light.
