Istanbul Modern Cinema hosts the Istanbul Film Days, organized for the first time this year by Kino Istanbul in collaboration with Istanbul Şehir University. The program titled “They Came Silently” will take place between October 9-12. The event is officially supported by Cineteca di Bologna, one of the most prestigious Italian institutions of the world in the field of film restoration. In 2014, when Turkey is celebrating its 100th year in cinema, the event presents various examples from the early days of film. In the program, which will also include panels, scenes from the Ottoman era will be brought to the attention of the academic community in a conference that will be held at Şehir University. Another noteworthy feature is the 1938 film “Too Much Johnson” by Orson Welles, which was long believed to be lost and was publicly screened for the first time in 2013.
