Despite his company being on the threshold of bankruptcy, independent producer Grégoire Canvel continues to make new movies with young directors and unrecognized masters and gradually sees his family life with his wife and three young daughters falling apart. Following this professional and personal tragedy, Grégoire’s eldest daughter, Clemence, explores her father’s past to discover not only some long-buried secrets but also the source of her father’s passionate love for his family and films. With Father of My Children, Hansen-Løve pays tribute to producer Humbert Balsan, who encouraged her in the making of her debut.
