The History of Turkish Cinema: Lütfi Akad October 6–December 22, 2016

Throughout the exhibition “Masters of Cinema in Turkey: Lütfi Akad”, Istanbul Modern Cinema presents part of a special documentary series, “The History of Turkish Cinema”, produced by Prof. Sami Şekeroğlu from 1987 to 1987 for TRT. The series’ hour-long episode dedicated to Lütfi Akad focuses on the director’s filmography accompanied by behind-the-scenes footage and shares his views on his own films. Among the guests in the documentary are Hürrem Erman who explains film production processes, and Alim Şerif Onaran who evaluates the cinematic climate of the time through Lütfi Akad’s oeuvre.
